Upon working on my logo developments I came up
with the idea of creating the type out lollipop sticks
and ice cream scoops this really appealed to a young
demographic and nature out of all my ideas this was
the one I chose to fully develop for my branding
identity. At this point I tried to not involve colour as
the logo should theoretically work rst in black and
white.
I tried multiple layouts and formats to really make
sure I was getting the best out my logo. Although
I liked the logo as it was just type, it didn’t really scream that it was an ice cream lab it just suggested it was a lab, to do this my peers suggested I split the logo up and placed an ice cream icon in the middle to really emphasise the fact it was ice cream parlour. Once I had determined my logo at this stage it was important to consider the consequences and effects of colour use on my logo. Because my logo is intended for children colour is imperative to the success of the logo. I initially chose primary colours and multiplied the layers to create cross over colours this although nice was too bright and didn’t not suggest ice cream. The reason for this choice was to appeal to both genders. I then considered using the colours from the most popular children’s ice cream avours, this being mint choc chip, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. From this I created 3 pastel colour swatches to represent the avours this looked very gender neutral and also very ice creamy.
