OUGD601 COP Practical - Final Outcome & Evaluation

This is my final, piece/s. It was incredibly difficult to take photographs of due to the reflections, if this was gilded on single glazed glass it would be much easier to take photographs of, to take photographs  I had to wait for it to be cloudy, which i guess is not too hard in english weather conditions.

You'll notice from my sketches it was intended I do 3 windows, unfortunately because of the time it was taking me to paint the enamel it meant I would not be able to complete a 3rd piece, If i wish to do more gilding writing this is always an option.

I found sign writing incredibly hard without being shown how to do it, I had to use my research from my essay to help teach myself ho to gild. I had a few comments from professionals on tips on how to apply gold to the window correctly. I have wrote about all the challenges I have tackled through out my blog as I have documented every step, Id say the most difficult thing about sign writing was getting the type to sit level on the glass this took several attempts.

Although my essay allowed me to explore the practice contextually by being able to get hands on with the craft it is has allowed me to full understand the skill and effort involved in creating a sign that is gilded/painted - it seems and looks straight forward until you actually do it, I definitely enjoyed doing this most and would 100 per cent like to do more of it.
