OUGD601/2 Work Experience - ASDA Confectionary, Ideas & Final Concept

With my research helping me create possible concepts and ideas, I came up with several ways of targeting both the brief and market. My most preferred ideas were the use of anthropomorphism to tell a story. Another of my designs that was strong was the concept inspired by the original traditional sweets of space themed packaging. As found through my research an overarching theme is popular amongst customers. Each product would tell a new fun and adventurous story for children and parents to engage with.

Using my research into competitors, themes and the products - I looked for influence in style for both imagery and typography. Some of the most successful ideas were the ones with themes and stories. To further progress my ideas were presented to the creative director at HA, he then picked the idea he felt would work best over all the range of sweets for me to further progress with. The idea chosen was the theme of space, sweets since the beginning have been associated with this theme. This was inspired by original sweet packaging designs of pick and mix in the 70s and 80s. To go with this theme, I created mood-boards of how the illustration style would appear etc...
